Gone but not forgotten

Bill "Scooter" Bishop

If you didn't know Bill then it was your loss. He was the kind of guy that would help anybody in a heartbeat. Many, if not all of Bill's friends needed his help with something. Eventhough he was a quiet guy, he always knew how to fix whatever was broken. He would drop what he was doing just to help a friend. Unfortunately, when Bill needed help, many of his friends were not around. He didn't get mad. He took in stride and never said a word.

Bill worked very hard all his life. Some of the jobs he worked were very dangerous. When he was younger he was buried alive along with another man. The other guy didn't make it. Bill developed health issues as a result of this trauma. He didn't let it get in his way. He moved on and worked just as hard at the next job. As a an ocean going tugboat engineer he traveled across the ocean several times to third world countries. The tugs towed barges in some of the roughest seas. His job was to keep the cranes working and the barges ready for service. In rough seas the barge would sometimes be higher than the tugboat! Imagine looking up at the barge you're towing.

His talents ranged from being an electrician, truck driver, welder, fabricator, builder and more. Eventhough he was not formally educated he learned how do tradesmen's jobs. He was much smarter than you would think. Because of his ability to get the job done we all depended on him to help us out. And. He always did.

"Glad you got to see me"
